Monday, Dec. 29

 At 12:56 p.m. on the 600 block of E. Ninth St., police took a 22-year-old Marshfield female and a 24-year-old Marshfield male into custody for domestic battery and probation violations. Both were transported to the Marshfield Police Department of booking procedures and later transported to Wood County Jail. Charges will be forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney.

Tuesday, Dec. 30

 Police received a report of a fuel drive off at 6:29 p.m. from a gas station on the 1300 block of S. Central Ave. A station worker stated she believed the vehicle involved was a black, four-door SUV operated by a woman in her mid-40s. An open search was completed, and a local vehicle matching the description could not be located.

 Police responded at 6:53 a.m. to a report that someone had entered a 50-year-old Marshfield woman’s residence on the 1000 block of W. Upham St. without her permission. Officers checked the residence and did not locate anyone inside. Investigation revealed that the woman’s nephew, a 28-year-old Marshfield man, had entered the residence to use the telephone. The woman stated the man had permission to use the residence.

Wednesday, Dec. 31

 Police arrested a 51-year-old Marshfield man for domestic disorderly conduct at 8:55 p.m. on the 100 block of W. Cleveland St. Drug paraphernalia seized from his residence tested positive for THC. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking. Then the man was transported to Wood County Jail on the charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and for not posting the $300 bond on the domestic charges. A request for charges of Domestic Disorderly Conduct, two counts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as a repeat offender are being forwarded to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.

 Loss prevention from a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. reported that a man in his early 30s attempted to steal a 60-inch television. When confronted, the man ran away. The man was identified through video surveillance. A request for charges will be filed with the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office.

Thursday, Jan. 1

 Police were dispatched to a bar on the 100 block of S. Central Ave. to remove an intoxicated 28-year-old Marshfield female. When police arrived, the woman was nearly unconscious due to extreme alcohol consumption. The woman was transported to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room to be medically cleared. Since the woman was on probation, a probation hold would be placed on her once she was medically cleared. Police took the woman into custody after she was cleared, and the woman became resistive. Officers had to carry her and forcibly place her in the squad car. While in the car, the woman kicked the rear window numerous times. The woman was transported to the Wood County Jail and released to jail staff care. A charge of Resisting an Officer will be requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.

 A 52-year-old Marshfield man reported that someone appeared to have backed into his garage door on the 1000 block of E. Grant St. between 11 p.m. on Dec. 31 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 1. The man stated his vehicle inside the garage was struck as well, but officers could not observe that damage since the garage door would not operate. Once the garage door is fixed, the man will contact the Marshfield Police Department again so the vehicle damage can be assessed and photographed. There are no suspects at this time.

 A man reported that his girlfriend, a 44-year-old Marshfield woman, had stolen his cell phone battery and his wallet, which contained $180 and his ID. When police made contact with the woman, they determined that a domestic abuse incident had taken place. The man was arrested and transported to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was live scanned. The man posted the necessary bond and was released. A request for charges will be filed with the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office.

 The loss prevention manager from a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. reported that two unknown males worked together to steal two 50-pound bags of dog food and eight jugs of detergent and then fled in an extended cab pickup truck. The store was provided a victim information card.

 At 6:50 p.m. a 46-year-old Madison man reported a possible theft/identity theft. The man stated that he may have left his tablet at the home of his ex-girlfriend, a 21-year-old Marshfield woman, when they broke up on Dec. 6. The woman never contacted the man regarding the tablet. The man was alerted to a purchase made in his name on eBay and believes his ex-girlfriend may have accessed his PayPal account. The man said that he would change the passwords on his accounts and that he would email officers the documents regarding the fraudulent charge. The investigation will continue.

 Police performed a welfare check at 7:32 p.m. on a 45-year-old Marshfield man after he had told his brother he wanted to take numerous pills. The 45-year-old informed officers that he did not wish to harm himself and that he mentioned the pills to his brother merely in passing due to financial issues. A safety plan was set up with the 45-year-old, and his live-in girlfriend stayed with him for the evening.

Friday, Jan. 2

 At 2:21 p.m. an 18-year-old Marshfield man reported a 19-year-old Marshfield woman may have tried to sell his dog without his permission. The man showed police a Facebook post in which the woman sought someone that may want to purchase the dog but did not directly state that it was for sale. Police contacted the woman, and she indicated that she was concerned for the dog since the man was being evicted and she would not be able to care for it. Police informed the woman that the man had no intentions of not caring for the dog and told her to avoid posting anything that would lead others to believe that the dog was for sale.

 At 10:42 a.m. a 43-year-old Hewitt man reported that on Dec. 30 one of the tires on his vehicle had been punctured while it was parked on the 1600 block of W. Kalsched St. The man was unsure if the tire had been damaged maliciously, but he wanted the incident documented.

Saturday, Jan. 3

 Police responded at 2:09 p.m. to a report of retail theft from a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. Loss prevention reported a 41-year-old male and an unidentified female appeared to mis-scan items on purpose in a self-checkout lane and then removed the items without paying for them on Jan. 2. The estimated total value of the items is $200. Police are attempting to locate the suspects.

 At 5:51 p.m. a 17-year-old Marshfield man reported that a vehicle struck his vehicle while it was parked on the 1300 block of N. Hume Ave. The driver side mirror was damaged. No suspects or vehicle information was known. Police viewed area video surveillance, but no cameras pointed in the direction of the crash.

Sunday, Jan. 4

 A 27-year-old Marshfield man was concerned after he had not heard from his friend, a 21-year-old Marshfield man dealing with depression, in the past few days and requested police perform a welfare check at 3:03 p.m. Police made contact with the 21-year-old on the 1400 block of S. Palmetto Ave. and found him to be safe. The man admitted to dealing with intermittent episodes of depression, but he had an adequate safety plan.

 Officers were dispatched at 12:57 p.m. to the St. Joseph’s Hospital ER for a welfare check of a 47-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man. The man had stated that he was hearing voices and had thoughts of harming himself. Brown County Crisis was contacted and approved an emergency detention of the man. Due to Norwood Health Center being filled, arrangements were made for the man to be transported to Winnebago Mental Health Institute in Oshkosh.

 At 1:35 p.m. a 39-year-old Marshfield man reported that his roommate stole his prescription medication between Jan. 1 and Jan. 3. The man found his prescription bottle and 19 of the original 60 pills in his roommate’s jacket pocket the morning of Jan. 3. About 10 pills were missing.

 At 8:49 a.m. 51-year-old Schofield woman requested police perform a welfare check on a 48-year-old Marshfield man. The man stated to the woman the night before that he was depressed, and she had been unable to reach him since. Police contacted the man, who said he did not hear the phone ring because he has ear plugs in when he sleeps. The man also stated that he was fine and that he would contact the woman or Crisis Intervention if he needed future assistance.

 A taxi driver came into the Marshfield Police Department at 7:19 p.m. to report that two individuals did not pay their fare. The individuals requested a ride to a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. When the cab driver dropped them off, they said they had to go inside to cash a check in order to pay the fare. The driver told them that he could only wait five minutes per company policy. The driver waited five minutes and then left. With video surveillance from the store, police identified the two individuals as a 22-year-old Marshfield man and a 22-year-old Marshfield woman. Police contacted the individuals, and they admitted to not paying the cab driver because the store would not cash their check. Police gave the individuals the opportunity to settle their debt with the cab company. If not, they would be issued citations. The cab fare was $6.10.

 Police responded at 9:12 p.m. to a report that a 4-year-old boy could not get back into his residence on the 300 block of W. Depot St. Officers were able to take the boy into his residence. The child’s grandfather was watching him but had fallen asleep. The child left the residence to go to his aunt’s residence down the street where his mother was supposed to be, but no one was home. The child was turned over to his grandfather.

Monday, Jan. 5

 At 10:04 a.m. a 66-year-old Marshfield woman reported that she had been the victim of identity theft. The woman had received a letter from the Social Security Administration (SSA) indicating she had opened an online account, which she denied doing. The woman contacted the listed phone number to report that the account was unauthorized, and she believed the account was blocked and/or closed through the SSA. The woman has Supplemental Security Income direct deposited into her bank account, and there was no unauthorized activity at this time. There are no suspects.
