At 10:03 p.m. a 28-year-old Marshfield man reported the theft of a pool cue from his locked storage unit in the basement of his apartment complex on the 1700 block of N. Chestnut Ave. The pool cue was last seen in March 2014 when it was in its case. The man reported today finding the case in a junk pile, but the pool cue could not be located. There was no observable damage to the storage unit, and other items in the unit had not been disturbed. There are no suspects at this time.
Monday, Nov. 3
Police responded to a report of theft from a store on the 2000 block of N. Central Ave. A 31-year-old Wisconsin Rapids male entered the store on two separate occasions, and each time he took an item from a shelf and brought it to customer service to return it without a receipt. The value of the two items is $371.76. Police are attempting to locate the male, who was positively identified from previous contacts.
Wednesday, Nov. 5
Police performed a welfare check at 9:35 a.m. on a 40-year-old Marshfield man on the 1500 block of S. Adams Ave. after he made a suicidal statement. The man admitted that he made the statement but that he meant it as an expression. The man stated that he was not suicidal and that he did not intend to harm himself. The man said he would call Crisis Intervention or the police department if he ever feels like harming himself.
Police performed a welfare check at 10:12 a.m. on a 24-year-old Marshfield woman that had sent three emails to the Marshfield Police Department email address stating that she wanted to kill herself. When police contacted her by telephone, she stated that she did not currently feel suicidal and that she had not felt that way since Monday night. The woman said she would call Crisis Intervention or the police department if she feels suicidal again.
Police took a 21-year-old Marshfield female into custody on multiple Marshfield warrants following a traffic stop on the 100 block of N. Maple Ave. at 5:20 p.m. The female was booked at the Marshfield Police Department, and she was unable to post the required bond of $2119. Police then transported her to the Wood County Jail.
Friday, Nov. 7
At 3:23 a.m. officers located a double mailbox post that had been struck by a vehicle on the 700 block of E. Blodgett St. Debris from the scene belonged to a dark blue Toyota Scion. Police checked the area but did not locate the vehicle. There are no suspects at this time.
The Marshfield Police Department assisted the Clark County Sheriff’s Department in taking a 79-year-old Marshfield man into protective custody on the 1400 block of W. Veterans Parkway at 12:59 p.m. Marshfield police transported him to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room where he was then turned over to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
Police responded at 6:07 p.m. to a report of a disturbance on the 400 block of W. Cleveland St. A 27-year-old Marshfield man had gotten into a verbal argument with his girlfriend, a 33-year-old Marshfield woman. Another man stepped in to break up the argument, and the 27-year-old told the second man to leave and then chased after him. The other man held went into a residence and held the porch door shut, and the 27-year-old punched through the door window, causing glass to shatter. EMS responded and transported the 27-year-old to the St. Joseph’s Hospital ER. The 27-year-old received stitches to his hand, and police issued him a citation for Disorderly Conduct.
Saturday, Nov. 8
At 3:28 p.m. a 46-year-old Marshfield woman reported that she had been a victim of fraud. The woman had lost her debit card on Nov. 5, and before she reported it to her bank an unknown person(s) had already made several purchases totaling over $80 with the card. There are no suspects at this time.
Police took a 24-year-old Marshfield woman into custody on the 1500 block of S. Locust Ave. for a valid Marathon County warrant. The woman was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and was released after bond was posted.
A 54-year-old Marshfield man reported that an unknown person(s) had removed his unlocked bicycle from a rack in front of his apartment building on the 600 block of Laurel Court without his permission. There are no suspects at this time.
Police responded at 9:40 p.m. to a report that a 19-year-old Marshfield woman and a 22-year-old Marshfield woman were involved in a verbal and physical altercation on the 1700 block of N. Chestnut Ave. No injuries resulted from the altercation, and witnesses stated both women involved were being disorderly. Police warned both women for Disorderly Conduct and told them to have no further contact with each other.
Sunday, Nov. 9
At 4:50 p.m. a 23-year-old Marshfield woman reported that three months ago she loaned her phone to her ex-boyfriend and that when she got the phone back today the phone was damaged. The woman contacted her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend, who admitted that the phone was damaged by the ex-boyfriend. Police investigation will continue.
At 12:39 a.m. police made contact with a 20-year-old Marshfield man who was in Wildwood Park after posted closing hours. Police arrested the man for Possession of THC and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and also cited him for Underage Possession of Alcohol and In Park After Hours. The matter is being referred to the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.
Monday, Nov. 10
Police received a report of a gasoline drive off from a gas station on the 1300 block of S. Central Ave. at 7:26 a.m. A female driver came into the store and bought other items with cash but failed to pay for her gasoline. The license plate number obtained by the store clerk was incorrect due to snow obstructing a character. No further action was taken.
Police issued a citation for retail theft to a 30-year-old Marshfield woman. The woman entered a convenience store on the 600 block of S. Central Ave. at 10:14 a.m., walked over to the drink cooler, selected two cans of energy drinks, placed them into her purse, and left the store without attempting to pay for them. Police contacted the woman, and she told police to mail her citation to her.
A 67-year-old Iron River man requested police perform a welfare check on his son, a 40-year-old Marshfield man, after he learned that his son had gotten into an argument with his landlord. The father was also concerned that his son’s medication could be causing some depression issues. When police contacted the 40-year-old, he did state he is having difficulties with the landlord and is looking to move. He also said he spoke with his doctors about his medication problems, which have improved. The man was not suicidal and had no thoughts about harming himself. The man said he would call the police or his social worker or go to the ER if he ever did have thoughts of harming himself.
Police responded to a report of telephone abuse at 10:56 a.m. A 66-year-old Marshfield woman had received several calls from the same phone number between Nov. 4 and Nov. 10. Police advised the woman to use the caller block. Police called the number, but the calls were hung up every time. When the woman attempted to the return the calls she only received a busy signal.
