At 7:13 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, a 32-year-old Greenwood male, sent her an unwanted but not threatening text message. The woman had reported to the police about the same thing happening approximately four months ago, and at that time police warned the male, and the behavior stopped. At this time police issued the man a stalking warning letter and advised the woman to seek a restraining order if necessary.
Police responded at 6:40 p.m. to a burglary that had taken place Sept. 18 on the 1600 block of S. Popple Ave. An unknown suspect forcefully entered into a shop through its interior entry door and took its main circuit breaker, leaving the shop without electricity. The investigation will continue.
Thursday, Sept. 25
Police responded at 6:39 a.m. to a report of a pole lying in the middle of the northbound lane on Central Ave. at Kalsched St. Officers moved the pole out of traffic and onto the median. There were no signs of debris, tire marks, or other evidence. There are no suspects for the hit and run.
Friday, Sept. 26
At 9:38 a.m. a 67-year-old Marshfield woman reported a possible identity theft. After being out of town for 11 days, the woman discovered that her mail had been forwarded to an address in Detroit, MI. The woman did not authorize to have her mail forwarded. The post office provided her a copy of the authorization card, but there was no indication as to who filled it out. The woman notified her bank and had her credit cards cancelled and reissued. The woman has not suffered any monetary loss but did want the incident documented in case something shows up on her records.
Police responded at 8:07 p.m. to a report of a vehicle’s smashed windshield on the 400 block of N. Central Ave. A 40-year-old Marshfield woman reported that incident occurred while the vehicle was parked behind her place of employment at some point between noon and 8 p.m. Police searched the area and found no witnesses of the incident. Police also checked area businesses for video surveillance, but no cameras record the area where the vehicle was parked.
Police performed a welfare check on a 57-year-old Gilman woman at St. Joseph’s Hospital at 2:31 p.m. The woman had expressed thoughts of harming herself if she was to leave the hospital. She wished to voluntarily admit to a mental health facility, but she was denied from all nearby facilities. Police contacted Crisis Intervention, and they approved the emergency detention. The woman was medically cleared and transported to the Norwood Health Center.
Police responded at 11:28 a.m. to a report of a 59-year-old Marshfield woman soliciting on the 500 block of E. Ives St. Police contacted the woman and advised her to avoid the premises. The woman said she would comply.
A 67-year-old Marshfield woman and her 35-year-old son reported numerous texts, calls, and emails from a 40-year-old Marshfield woman, the son’s ex-girlfriend, that had negative comments and profanity directed toward the son. The 40-year-old woman had previously been warned by other officers as well as the man’s attorney and a judge to cease contact with both the son and the mother. Police contacted the 40-year-old woman, and she admitted to the conduct. Police will mail her a citation.
Saturday, Sept. 27
An 18-year-old Marshfield woman reported that some prescription antibiotic medication was stolen from her vehicle on the 1900 block of S. Maple Ave. at some point between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. The vehicle was unsecured and multiple people could and would have had access. There are no suspects at this time.
Following a traffic stop, police arrested an 18-year-old Marshfield female for Possession of THC. A K9 sniffed the vehicle exterior and alerted police to the odor of a controlled substance. Police searched the vehicle and located marijuana. The female admitted the marijuana was hers, and police transported her to the Marshfield Police Department where she was photographed, fingerprinted, and then released.
The Marshfield Police Department assisted the Marathon County Sheriff’s office at 4:26 a.m. A male subject reported that someone was getting beaten up in his basement, that the assailants were then coming after him, and that he had heard gunfire. The man barricaded himself in a bedroom with two children. When officers arrived at the residence on the 100 block of S. Russell St. in Unity they found no evidence of anyone being hurt or anyone in the residence that was not supposed to be. The man surrendered himself, and Marathon County Deputies placed him into custody. Upon further investigation officers discovered the man was possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs and was suffering side effects. Marathon County Deputies later transported him to the Marathon County Jail.
Sunday, Sept. 28
Police responded at 2:26 a.m. to a report of a man slumped over in the passenger seat of a vehicle located on the 1400 block of S. Locust Ave. When police and EMS arrived they woke up the man and checked his vital signs. The man had a strong odor of intoxicants and was in a lethargic state. Upon having him exit the vehicle, officers observed items consistent with drug activity on his seat. A K9 walk around also indicated drug activity. Police found drug paraphernalia and green, leafy material that later tested positive for THC and took them from the vehicle as evidence. Police took the man into custody, booked him, and then released him to a sober adult when his condition improved. Charges will be referred to the District Attorney’s Office for Possession of THC and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also cited for underage alcohol.
Monday, Sept. 29
A 42-year-old Marshfield woman reported that the rear window to her vehicle was broken sometime between 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28 and 7:50 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29 on the 2300 block of E. Becker Road. Nothing was taken from the vehicle. Neither the victim nor officers could locate any tool or object used to damage the window. Police took pictures of the damaged vehicle and asked neighbors if they had any information on the damage but found nothing further.
Police responded at 7:54 a.m. to a report of trespassing at the 1800 block of E. Fourth St. that occurred Saturday, Sept. 27. A 55-year-old Marshfield man had been observed picking apples on a company’s private property. Police contacted the man and informed him he is not welcome to return to the property.
At 10:35 a.m. a 31-year-old Marshfield woman reported that she found numerous used condoms littered on her vehicle on the 1400 block of S. Locust Ave. There are no suspects. Officers informed the woman to contact the police department if the incident happens again.
Tuesday, Sept. 30
A 74-year-old Marshfield woman reported damage to her mailbox and post on the 2600 block of W. Veterans Parkway. The damage was consistent with a vehicle that ran it over headed in the northbound direction. There was no other reported damage in the neighborhood, and police did not observe any tire marks. There are no suspects.
The manager of a restaurant on the 1200 block of N. Central Ave. reported that a 24-year-old Marshfield male and 21-year-old Marshfield female failed to pay their bill. Follow-up will continue
