MARSHFIELD--UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield presents “Godspell” on Jan 31, Feb. 1, and Feb. 6-8 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. at the Helen Connor Laird Theatre.
Under direction of Donna Thompson, this updated version of “Godspell” is a retelling of the original sensation, injected with contemporary references and new arrangements. In the show, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. A blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus’ life dances across the stage.
Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm.
The production features a talented cast, including Brian Clark as Jesus, Nat Bremer as John the Baptist/Judas and followers of Jesus: Joe Anderson, Joelle Clark, Alanna Feddick, Lisa Frey, Kris Hughes, Kristina Kaiser, Abby Peterson, Andy Peterson, Courtney Posteluk, Steve Schmidt, Amy Schultz, Lexi Schultz, Montana Smith-Frome and Andy Wuethrich. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience “Godspell”—a vibrant and heartfelt production that will inspire and uplift audiences of all ages.
This production is sponsored by the Laird Fund for the Arts. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at tickets.uwsp.edu
