WOOD COUNTY – On Monday, Nov. 3, shortly after 2 p.m. the Wood County Dispatch Center received a call of a truck vs. train crash on Mayflower Road, near the intersection of County Hwy P in the Township of Milladore, at the Mayflower Road train tracks.

Wood County deputies and fire personnel responded to the scene.

“An initial on scene investigation indicates the truck was traveling northbound on Mayflower Road and parked for a railroad crossing prior to Hwy P. In parking the truck, it was determined to be too close to the railroad right of way,” a Wood County Sheriff’s Department release stated.

“While in the parked position a train did pass through the area and crashed into the truck.

“Significant injuries were sustained by the operator of the truck and a passenger. These individuals were transported to a local medical facility.”

The Wood County Sherriff's Department was assisted at the scene by Marshfield Ambulance, Dave's Tow Service, Wood County Dispatch Center and Auburndale Fire/ 1st Responders.

The driver was later identified as La Verne Robert Kloos, 70, and the passenger as Cindy Lou Kloos, 68, both of Stratford.

The incident remains under investigation.
