Step back in time: July 9-15 in Hub City history

Ten years ago

Construction began as of Monday on an 86,600-square-foot vertical addition to the east wing of the Marshfield Clinic. Scheduled to be completed in June 2008, the new addition had a price tag of $17.5 million.

Twenty-five years ago

Missy Michalik and Tracy Miedl earned their caps for donating 100 hours of service to Saint Joseph’s Hospital as Volunteens. Meidl is the daughter of Glen and Carolyn Miedl of Hewitt, and Michalik is the daughter of Cliff and Jan Michalik of Marshfield.

Fifty years ago

The annual Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer banquet was held at the American Legion Clubhouse. Named the 1967 Outstanding Young Farmer was Ronald Gotz of rural Marshfield. Charles Lindgren, president of the Jaycees, presented Gotz’s award.

Seventy-five years ago

Closing its doors July 10 after 56 years of continuous operations was the Bakerville cheese factory, located west of Marshfield on County Trunk B. Joe Henseler, operator of the plant since 1913, was the son of the founder, Anton Henseler, who erected the factory in 1886.
