SPENCER — Spencer will move on to the second round of the WIAA girls volleyball playoffs after beating Tri-County 3-0 in a Division 3 regional quarterfinal Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets won 25-10, 25-8, 25-13 to advance to a regional semifinal Thursday at Marathon. Marathon topped Pittsville 3-0 on Tuesday.

Jenna Schober had nine kills and 19 digs, Jenna Rogers had 21 digs, and Liz Endreas added eight kills for the Rockets. McKenzie Bainer had 11 assists, and Sadie Mercier added 10 from the setter position.

“It was a nice way to start the playoffs,” Spencer coach Buff Heller said. “I’m not sure Tri-County has seen a team play defense like we did tonight. Our setters did a great job distributing the ball all night.”
