CLARK COUNTY — Sheriff Kerry Kirn is urging motorists to slow down in construction zones and stay off bridges under construction after five people were recently cited for driving across a closed bridge.
The citations occurred at the bridge on County Highway M and Rock Creek Road, where construction is ongoing. Kirn said driving on bridges under construction could damage the work and delay project completion while putting drivers at risk.
"We understand that the 2025 construction season has been stressful for motorists to travel around Clark County," Kirn said in a statement Tuesday. "By driving on a bridge that is under construction, it could cause damage delaying the completion of the project as well as putting yourself at risk."
The sheriff's office is asking all motorists and UTV operators to reduce speed when traveling through construction areas throughout the county. Multiple road and bridge construction projects are underway this season.
Kirn emphasized that drivers should avoid all bridges currently under construction and follow posted speed limits in work zones.
