MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield School District has had two of its trips for this spring cancelled by hosting organizations, due to concerns over coronavirus. That's what Superintendent Ryan Christianson told the Board of Education on March 11.
"We had a group of computer students that were scheduled to travel to the University of Minnesota next week. That group has cancelled that program, so those students will not be travelling out of state as a result,” he said. “We also had a biology research team that was scheduled to travel to San Diego over spring break. That organization has also, on their own, cancelled that trip, so we're handling all these situations on a case-by-case basis."
The board, however, did give its approval to two trips scheduled for next year – one headed for Florida in March, and the other going to London and Paris in July.
The board also gave a nod to travel for the Mock Trial Team to participate in state competition in Madison, and for the FBLA group to attend a state leadership conference later this month, also in Madison.
The Mock Trial Team trip was cancelled the following day over concerns.
