Sandra R. Moore passed away February 25, 2025, unattended in an assisted care facility in Harlan, Iowa.

Sandy was born November 25, 1940 in Harlan, Iowa. She grew up in nearby Kimballton /Elk Horn Iowa the beautiful daughter of Henry and Eva Mortensen.

Sandra attended Elk Horn/Kimballton schools where she excelled in basketball and music in her high school until she moved to attend Atlantic schools with her mother to finish her high school education after her father’s passing. She was married to Jerry Moore.

Sandy moved to Wisconsin in the early 1970’s to start and own a steel building erecting business, Moore Steel Builders. Sandy was very connected to the industry as she became the Secretary/Vice President of the WMBDA (Wisconsin Metal Building Dealers Association). Through her years of dedication to the association was fortunate to arrange speakers like the former Green Bay Packer’s star Bart Starr at one her many beautifully coordinated trade shows.

Sandy was also a chairperson for a central Wisconsin based chapter of the American Cancer Society dedicating her effort to her father.  Later, she owned Moore Steel and Wrecker. She coordinated everything…. whether dispatching a wrecker call or not having a problem pulling something off the steel rack and cutting you whatever you needed! She owned many rental properties in central Wisconsin and also southwestern Iowa.

Sandy had few hobbies. The few she had were doing ceramics with her friend and loved her dogs which were always close by.
Her greatest love (hobby) was whatever her Boys were up to. She was known to show up (unannounced) all by herself to root on a bowling, dart, arm-wrestling tournament in central Wisconsin or an RC race in Illinois, man Enduro race in Tomahawk, a kart race in Tennessee or Indiana, or a modified race in North Dakota and anywhere in-between. Wherever her Boys were, she wasn’t far behind. She always wanted to be involved whether it be a ride-a long for support, a loving kick in the hind end to do better, or a hug and a scratch on the back for a job well done, or a phone call if she was unable to attend.

Mom is survived by her sons Jed (Mary) of Marshfield and Jay (Debbie) of Hewitt. Grandsons Nate (Ashley) of Minnesota and Luke (Taylor) of Stratford. Grandchildren Devin, Jaxten, Westin, Brystin, Layla, Maddy, Charlotte. Sister-in-law Catherine Edgar of Guthrie, Oklahoma and many nephews and nieces.

Sandy was predeceased by her parents, a sister Elinor Olsen (and brother-in-law Dick), granddaughter Ashley Moore, nephews Steve Olsen, Larry Jay, and Doug Schmidt.

No cards, donations, or sympathies are needed since her passing. What we ask, is what Mom always asked, “A peck on the cheek”. It meant the world to her. Please give your loved one a “peck” in Mom’s memory.
