MARSHFIELD – Mathew L. Samson has been eliminated from the 2026 Marshfield School Board Spring Election.
Three seats are open for the election, with two seats three-year terms, and the third seat a one-year term to fill a vacancy.
A primary election was held Feb. 17 to narrow a field of seven candidates down to six, in which Samson received just 84 votes.
Samson, 41, was charged on Feb. 12 in Wood County Court with two counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 12.
Samson was also charged on Jan. 29 with seven felony counts — four felony charges of child abuse and one count each of first-degree recklessly endangering safety, false imprisonment, strangulation and suffocation, as well as a misdemeanor count of battery
