MARSHFIELD — Rich Reinart, a current member of the City Plan Commission, has added his name to the pool of candidates seeking a seat on Marshfield’s City Council.

Reinart will oppose incumbent Alderwoman Char Smith, who currently occupies the District 6 seat on the council. The only other incumbent who will face a challenger is Alanna Feddick in District 2. Feddick will run against Marshfield resident Josh Witt.

City Council incumbents Gordy Earll, Rebecca Spiros, and Peter Hendler will all seek re-election unopposed. No primary election will be necessary for city council as no district has more than two candidates running for office.

School board to hold primary election

The Marshfield School Board will hold a primary election as there are currently eight candidates vying for three open seats. The primary will be held on Feb. 17 to cut the field down to six candidates in advance of the April 7 election.

School Board President Marlene Stueland, School Board Vice President Randell Kruger, and School Board Clerk Mark Critelli will all seek re-election. The incumbents will be challenged by city council member Tom Buttke along with Christine Miller, Steven Okonek, Mary Carney, and Frances Bohon.

The three open spots on the school board are not for specific officer positions said Board of Education Secretary Jenni Heeg. The school board re-elects its officers in a May organizational meeting each year.
