Mountain bike endurance race comes to Powers Bluff July 19

Posted

WOOD COUNTY – On July 19, the Friends of Powers Bluff will help host a Wisconsin Endurance Mountain Bike Series – or WEMS – race.

Dubbed the Skunk Hill Scramble, about 100 riders are expected to compete in three-, six- and 10-hour races. The 6.3-mile course is set on a combination of single-track mountain bike trails and gravel multi-use trails in the new portion of Powers Bluff County Park.

Friends of Powers Bluff members and trail maintenance volunteers Mark Haferman, Mike Trulen and Erik Bennett have laid out the course, which will challenge all skill levels. As part of ongoing volunteer trail maintenance at the park, Travis Urban, Mike Trulen and Michael Pelech have been working on the trails, ensuring they are in optimum condition for race day.

Each event in the WEMS series is an individually organized race offering its own unique experience. The Skunk Hill Scramble is one of six races in the 2025 season and new to the series. To register, visit www.wemseries.com

Sign-in and bib pick-up starts at 7:30 a.m. July 19, with racing beginning at 8 a.m. All parking will be at 7073 County Road N, 1 mile west of Arpin. The trails will be closed to the public for this event.
