MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield School District is offering school alumni and supporters a new means to connect and engage with others in the Tiger community.
“The Tiger Nation will be another avenue of communication for anyone who wants to stay connected to the Tiger community, not just alumni,” said Krystal Bowman, School District of Marshfield communications specialist. “The Tiger community, high school alumni, and supporters are invited to join the nation in order to grow a vibrant community of active Tigers. The Tiger Nation will allow for community building through special events, networking opportunities, and information sharing. Two main benefits of becoming a member of the Tiger Nation include a medium to engage with past and present Tigers as well as a place for Tigers to network with other Tigers.”
The Marshfield School District joins 13 other districts involved in Alumni Nations, a program launched in 2014 to assist public schools in networking with their community.
“About a year ago, the School District of Marshfield began working with Alumni Nations,” said Bowman. “Alumni Nations is a company who specializes in building databases, connecting with alumni, and even more importantly how to engage with alumni.
“Alumni Nations assisted in the set up. They conducted a survey of previous alumni. Then we built a website and came up with a communication action plan based off of needs, etc. They helped guide the process the first few months, but now this is something I will be updating-monitoring.
“The website marshfieldtigers.alumninations.com will provide access to events, reunions, news stories, as well as links on how to stay involved. Alumni interested in volunteering, being a guest speaker, or staying connected with student organizations or athletic teams can submit a form for more information. There is also a link to the Education Foundation if alumni or community members want to provide a financial contribution.”
Tiger Nations is free and open to all Marshfield School District alumni and supporters from 1968 to the present.
“By signing in and providing your email address, members will have access to the Tiger Store and exclusive Tiger apparel, occasional discounts, biannual newsletters, and event invitations,” explained Bowman. “There will also be a job board for employers to post job postings to fellow Tiger graduates.
“The hope is that the School District will have a better avenue to keep in contact with alumni. Alumni that want to stay involved with their alma mater will have a medium to do so. It will also be beneficial for future alumni and upcoming grad classes to have a point of contact within the district to notify graduates about class reunions.”
Organizers will conduct their main launch during the week of Marshfield’s homecoming.
