Posted

MARSHFIELD— A pedestrian was killed by a train shortly after 2:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the crossing of Veterans Parkway and Vine Avenue. Police identified the man as 21 year old George Humphrey of Marshfield.

Humphrey was seriously injured at the scene and was transferred to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.  The circumstances leading to his death are still under investigation, police said.

This was the second fatality involving a pedestrian being struck by a train at the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Vine Avenue since February of this year.

In both cases the pedestrians were not in a designated crossing area and were located in areas restricted to pedestrians, Lieutenant Darren Larson said.
