MARSHFIELD – Marshfield has a new events & programs coordinator.
In February, the Marshfield common council voted 9-0 in favor of an agreement with Visit Marshfield “to plan, manage, promote, and operate the Hub City Concert Series, consisting of eight public concert events designed to enhance tourism, quality of life, and downtown vitality in Marshfield.”
Under the terms of the agreement, Visit Marshfield and the City of Marshfield will each contribute $20,000 to create a baseline budget of $40,000 for the series, with sponsorships, grants and other revenues adding to the funding.
Following the resignation last fall of a previous full-time Parks and Recreation Department Staff Member Nikki Anderson — who coordinated booking and related logistics for the series — the council voted 8-1 to refill the vacant events & program coordinator position, which was included in the 2026 city budget.
Enter Tim Pyles, who grew up in Canada but has lived all over the United States, in places like Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles.
“My background is in producing live events, acting and directing for theater, teaching and fundraising. Before this role, I was running a university theater program in Pennsylvania.
I believe strongly in the importance of community to everyone’s health and happiness. But a community is what you make it — for better or for worse. So it’s the people in the community who have to invest in making the place they live a place of connection and joy. Marshfield is a community that shares this belief, and I’m lucky to get to be a part of making this a better community for everyone,” Tim said.
Tim’s dad is a retired pastor, and he said that he has “learned from him what it means to have a community that you have responsibility for nurturing. There’s all sorts of aspects to that nurturing — education, service, the arts and just getting to know people and caring about them.”
Tim also brings with him a “strong grasp of both the practical nuts and bolts of putting on an event, as well as having big ideas and vision for the future. I have lots of ideas for how we can grow our arts and cultural events and programming here in Marshfield in the years ahead, so stay tuned.”
What would make Tim feel like he was succeeding in the role six months from now?
“I think if everything that’s currently planned between now and then has run relatively smoothly, and if by that point I’m starting to build on what’s already happening with some new ideas, I’ll feel pretty good about that,” he said.
