Marshfield continues to see increased enrollment

MARSHFIELD – Enrollment in the Marshfield School District is up due to open enrollment. Board member Dale Yakaites said this is a trend dating back to 2009, where more students are coming into the district than are leaving the district.

Yakaites said that the district saw a jump that amounted to nearly 200 students, which will help the district out financially.

“As of right now, we have 303 students who are enrolling in under open enrollment and 124 out – that’s a difference of 179 students,” Yakaites said, “and not only is it something that we are proud of as a district, because we think we offer great things for kids here in Marshfield. But, realistically, it is also a financial success for the district as well, because there is money that the district gets based upon that open enrollment transfer. I think it was around $5,000, roughly something of that nature. So, that is always positive.”
