Marshfield chiropractor receives distinguished alumni award

Posted

MARSHFIELD – A Marshfield chiropractor who has practiced for more than 40 years received one of Logan University’s highest honors this past May.
Dr. Lori Bents received the 2025 Spirit of Logan Distinguished Alumni Award during the university’s symposium May 1-3 on campus in Chesterfield, Mo. The award recognizes alumni who have made significant, lasting impacts on the university through leadership, philanthropy, industry achievement and service.
Bents, who graduated from Logan in 1984, operates Bents Chiropractic Center on East Fourth Street in Marshfield. She originally planned to study pharmacy but changed course after visiting a chiropractor.
“I was on a pre-pharmacy track while earning my bachelor’s degree,” Bents said. “I decided to visit a chiropractor nearby and after the discussion, I knew this profession was my calling.”
At Logan, Bents studied under what she called “phenomenal instructors” and gained clinical experience. She also participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Montgomery Health Center on campus.

After graduation, Bents completed a research residency in Logan Basic Technique and practiced in Hayward. She also taught at Northwestern University before establishing her first practice in Newport News, Va., in 1989. She opened her Wisconsin practice eight years later.
Bents now serves as Wisconsin state representative for the International Chiropractic Association and is a member of the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association.
She has maintained ties to her alma mater through the Dr. Lori Bents Scholarship, which she established for Logan Doctor of Chiropractic students.
“I received scholarships that made a big difference, so I wanted to give back in the same way,” she said.
Logan University President H. Garrett Thompson presented the award during the May symposium. Dr. Patrick Montgomery, a Logan professor and 1976 graduate, also received the award.
