Marshfield boys soccer ties Wisconsin Rapids in regular-season finale

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys soccer team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with its second-straight tie, a 1-1 draw with Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at Griese Park.

The Tigers finish the regular season with a 10-7-4 record and a 5-4-3 mark in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. Wisconsin Rapids finishes 6-6-4 and 3-5-4 in the Valley.

Nick Reber scored for Rapids 2:33 into the game and the Raiders led for more than 80 minutes until Marshfield finally tied it late.

Alex Sainterme scored for the Tigers with 3:32 remaining in the game and it ended in a 1-1 draw.

Trevyn Tham had five saves in goal for Marshfield.

The Tigers open WIAA playoff action against Rhinelander in a Division 2 regional semifinal at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Griese Park.
