STEVENS POINT — The Marshfield boys tennis team had one singles player and one doubles team advance after play at the WIAA Division 1 subsectional on Wednesday at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

The Tigers’ No. 3 doubles team of Tanner Boson and Tom Kruger, who won a Wisconsin Valley Conference championship last week, improved to 18-1 this season by winning two matches and advancing to Thursday’s sectional at Wausau East. As the No. 3 doubles team, the duo is ineligible to qualify for the WIAA State Individual Tournament, which will held June 5-6 in Madison.

Senior Bryce Gadke kept his state tournament hopes alive by reaching the semifinals at No. 1 singles for the Tigers. Gadke is now 18-4. The top four at the sectional, which will include four other No. 1 singles players from the Ashwaubenon subsectional, qualify for the state tournament.

Individual match results and other Marshfield scores were not reported.
