MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS) recently released its numbers for the 2025 fiscal year.
MAPS is a private non-profit animal welfare organization that relies solely on contributions from residents and businesses in the community.
MAPS was founded in 2011 and opened its facility at 3500 Downwind Drive, Marshfield, in August 2020.
The facility reported that 819 cats and dogs came through the doors, with 506 adopted.
In addition, nearly 100 pets were reunited with their owners.
The Trap-Neuter-Return program worked with 52 cats and released them.
A little over 450 stray cats and dogs were brought in, 131 were surrendered and 35 pets were returned.
Another 12 kittens were born into the facility’s care, and 42 cats and dogs were transferred in from other agencies.
The shelter also performed 116 public cat spays/neuters
MAPS currently has five employees, assisted by more than 40 volunteers.
