MACCI offers second annual ‘Light Up the Night’ glow walk

MARSHFIELD — Sponsored by the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MACCI), people of all ages are invited to participate in the second annual “Light Up the Night” 2K or 5K glow walk on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Held in conjunction with the Marshfield Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Maple Fall Fest, this event offers an element of healthy fun for the entire family.

The walk begins in the parking lot of Pick’n Save at 641 S. Central Ave. Registration will be held from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and the walk will start at 8 p.m. Prior to the walk, participants can take part in some pre-walk stretches.

Participants will walk the sidewalks of downtown Marshfield from Sixth Street to Fourth and then stroll east through residential areas, lighting up the night. No streets will be closed, and walkers must obey the crossing signs and respect the traffic.

New this year, participants have the option of walking either the 2K route or the 5K route.

Walkers are challenged to come “lit” up with glow-in-the-dark items. Pick ‘n Save will award prizes for the “best lit” team of walkers and for the “best lit” individual. Glow-in-the-dark T-shirts along with a glow necklace will be included with registration. Pick ‘n Save will provide healthy snacks and water after the walk.

To guarantee a T-shirt, registration must be completed by Sept. 1. The registration fee is $25 per person.
