MARSHFIELD – A longtime Marshfield municipal judge passed away on Jan. 12.

Judge John Adam Kruse, 70, lost his battle with cancer.

Kruse was a 1973 graduate of Marshfield High School and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from UW–Madison in 1978.

He continued his education at McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento, Calif.

Kruse recently served as Marshfield Area Joint Municipal Court Judge — which serves Marshfield, Spencer and Stratford — while practicing family law.

He submitted his resignation as judge on Dec. 9, which was effective Jan. 9.

He is survived by his wife, Jodi; his children, Brian Olson of Marshfield; Alison (Michael) Jump of Tulsa, Okla.; and Katherine Kruse of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 23, at Rembs Celebration Center in Marshfield.
