GRAND RAPIDS – A portion of Lake Wazeecha will be closed to public recreation for four days later this month to accommodate the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Tournament.
Grand Rapids officials OK’d the move, voting to close the eastern section of the lake from 6 a.m. July 17 through 9 p.m. July 20.
The closure affects waters east of a line extending north from the 64th Street South boat landing to the north shore, including all water area east to the County Highway U/80th Street South bridge. Signs will be posted in the restricted area.
All recreational activities will be prohibited during the closure, including boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
Police Chief Joseph Zurfluh said the temporary restriction ensures public safety during the tournament. Questions about the closure should be directed to the Grand Rapids Police Department at (715) 424-1821.
