Highground’s new Welcome Center opens May 2

NEILSVILLE – The Highground Veterans Memorial Park will have a new welcome center to greet visitors after its grand opening on Friday, May 2.

Officials say the space is to deepen visitors’ connection to the site’s mission.

“We are thrilled to unveil the new Welcome Center and to continue our mission of honoring and supporting our veterans,” said Chris Pettis, executive director of The Highground. “This space represents our dedication to providing a place of healing, reflection, and education for future generations.”

A grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held at 4 p.m. May 2. The ceremony will also feature a presentation highlighting the history and future vision of The Highground.

The new visitor’s center includes:

  • Exhibit areas: Currently showcasing “Back in The World”
  • Visitor amenities: Seating areas, restrooms and resources
  • Event spaces: Versatile rooms available for community gatherings, educational programs and special events
  • Resource center: Offering information and support services for Veterans and their families

The Highground is designed as a place of reflection and remembrance, honoring veterans and providing a sanctuary for healing.
