Everest hockey falls to Marshfield

SCHOFIELD – The D.C. Everest hockey team hosted Marshfield on Feb. 13 for a conference meet, where the Evergreens fell to the Tigers, 8-1.

Marshfield's Nick Urban scored three goals in the first period for the Tigers to start the momentum.

D.C. Everest's Grant Oertel put his team on the board with a goal early in the second period. Davis Hackbarth assisted. Marshfield then scored two more goals in the second period to bring the game to a 5-1 score at the end of the period. Marshfield's Payton Smith and Dom Lange scored those two goals for the Tigers.

In the third period, Marshfield scored three more times to give Marshfield the 8-1 win. Scoring in the third period for Marshfield was Evan Weister, who scored short-handed; also scoring were Noah Peterson and Nick Urban, on a power play.

D.C. Everest's goalies had a combined 24 saves on the night – Ethan Hurt with 21 and Jared Kazmierczak with three.

AJ Trierweiler of Marshfield had 25 saves on the night.

Up next for the Evergreens is WIAA regionals on Feb. 18, against Barron Area Schools at home.

Marshfield will host Waupaca on Feb. 20 for their regional game.
