MARSHFIELD – Dates have now opened for family and friends to celebrate the sacrifice and service of local veterans through The Highground Veterans Memorial Park Honor Stone program.
Each month, from May through October, The Highground dedicates a Saturday to the placement of Honor Stones.
Korean Stones honor the service members who served during the Korean War, with polished black granite stones placed on the face of the “Rice Paddies” monument and the walkway walls.
Placed on the Plaza Walkways, Legacy Stones are gray granite and can be purchased by anyone for veterans or non-veterans, living or deceased, from Wisconsin or elsewhere.
Placed in the “boot print” of the Persian Gulf Tribute, Persian Gulf stones are sand colored granite and can be purchased by anyone for veterans or non-veterans, living or deceased, living in Wisconsin or elsewhere having served during Desert Storm, the Middle East conflicts and the present-day Global War on Terrorism.
Scout dogs, sentry dogs or tracker dogs can he honored for their impact on the military and its mission. They are placed at the base of the tribute in mahogany granite.
The United In Service stones are opportunities for community organizations to demonstrate their unity with veterans and their families. Placed on the plaza around the United In Service Map of Wisconsin, the stones are gray granite.
