Columbus Dons bring home silver ball; Fuerlinger earns tournament record

MADISON – The Columbus Dons will bring home a silver ball, after a hard-fought 77-69 loss to Sheboygan Lutheran on March 16 at the Kohl Center in Madison.

The Dons beat the Bangor Cardinals on March 15 to advance to the Saturday championships.

Ethan Meece was high scorer in the state final game, with 22, while Noah Taylor added 17 and Jarred Mandel added 13.

Jacob Ognacevic has high for Sheboygan, with 34.

Bryce Fuerlinger broke the WIAA Division 5 state tournament record for rebounds, with 34 – marking 25 on Friday and nine on Saturday. He bests the previous record of 29, set in 2012 by Sheboygan’s Sam Decker.
