MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic volleyball team battled back from a 2-1 deficit to beat Owen-Withee 3-2 and grab its first Cloverbelt Conference East Division victory of the season on Thursday at Columbus Catholic High School.
The Dons are now 1-4 in the Cloverbelt East, while Owen-Withee drops to 0-3.
Columbus Catholic won the first game 25-21, before the Blackhawks won the next two 25-18, 25-16. The Dons refused to quit and came back to win the final two 26-24 and 15-11.
“The girls never gave up,” Columbus Catholic coach Kat Egle said. “Even when we were down, they kept fighting. I am proud of them.”
Kendra Baierl had 19 kills and five aces, Sierra Litwatis had 36 digs, Bailey Neider had 17 assists and Jennifer Riegel added 15 assists and four aces for the Dons.
Columbus Catholic hosts Loyal/Granton on Oct. 2.
