FOR HUB CITY TIMES
MARSHFIELD -- The City of Marshfield Clerk's Office is accepting applications for the position of District 7 Alderman. This will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Adam Fischer.
Any qualified elector of District 7 of the City of Marshfield may apply. A qualified elector is defined as a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older, who has resided in the district for at least 28 consecutive days before the election of office and is not disqualified from voting by one or more of the impediments described in Wis. Stat. 6.03.
Following Fischer’s resignation, effective Dec. 31, 2022, remaining members of the Common Council voted Jan. 10 in favor of appointing Fischer’s replacement. Applicants will be invited to the Feb. 14 Common Council meeting to give an oral presentation and answer questions. Council members will then take two weeks to review the information provided, and vote Feb. 28 on Fischer’s replacement. The new member who is chosen will be administered the oath of office, and immediately assume their new position on the council that evening. City of Marshfield Alderpersons are elected to serve two-year terms and are expected to attend several meetings each month. These include Common Council meetings held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 6 p.m. In addition, each Alderperson will be appointed to a Standing Committee, which meet on the first and third weeks of the month, typically Monday or Tuesday.
