Reed Miller scored 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help lift the Marshfield boys basketball team to a 78-71 overtime win over De Pere on Dec. 1 at Marshfield High School.
Marshfield led 33-27 at halftime before De Pere stormed back to force an overtime. The Tigers outscored De Pere 11-4 in the extra period to win their second-straight game and even their record at 2-2.
Miller made 5 of 10 shots from 3-point range and was 7 of 9 on free throws for the Tigers.
Marshfield finished 9 of 19 overall on 3-pointers and 21-for-27 at the free throw line.
Seth Anderson added 15 points, Isaac Meverden and Brant Bohman each had 12 points, and Anthony Posteluk chipped in 10 points, making all five of his free throw attempts for Marshfield.
The Tigers beat Holmen in a nonconference game 68-53 at home on Nov. 28. Marshfield drilled 11 3-pointers in the victory.
Anderson had 23 points and 12 rebounds, Bohman hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points, and Miller had all 11 of his points in the second half for Marshfield.
Auburndale starts 2-0
Sophomore Cooper Weinfurter poured in 27 points, making five 3-pointers, to lift the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 76-35 win over Athens in a nonconference game Dec. 1 at Athens High School.
Weinfurter made 7 of 12 shots overall, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, and drained 8 of 9 free throws to finish with 27 points. He also added six steals, five rebounds, and four assists in the victory.
Cale Jacoby added 13 points and Cameron Ertl chipped in 10 for Auburndale (2-0).
The Apaches pounded Wausau Newman Catholic 79-45 in their season, and Marawood Conference South Division, opener on Nov. 28.
Colton Wright had 22 shots, making 4 of 5 from 3-point range, and Jacoby chipped in 15 points in the victory.
Stratford improves to 3-0
Vaughn Breit led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points, as the Stratford boys basketball team doubled up Rib Lake 56-28 in a nonconference game Dec. 1 at Rib Lake High School.
Breit made 8 of 9 free throws and was the only Tiger to finish in double figures. He added six rebounds, three assists, and five steals in the victory.
Stratford won its Marawood Conference South Division opener Nov. 28, beating Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 62-47 at home.
Ten different players scored in the win for the Tigers. Breit led Stratford with 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Teddy Redman added 10 in the victory.
Stratford only led by one, 31-30, at halftime before holding off the Royals in the second half, limiting them to just 17 points.
