Big Brothers Big Sisters receives $1,000 donation from Security Health Plan

MARSHFIELD — Every child needs an adult who sets a positive example by being a positive example. That is why Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County is receiving a $1,000 donation from Security Health Plan through its monthly Employee-Driven Corporate Giving Program.

“In February 2013 I was matched with my ‘little,’ who was 12 at the time. Watching her grow into a young adult and knowing that I have a role in that has been the most rewarding experience of my life,” said Rikki Starich, the Marshfield Clinic Health System employee whose nomination was selected for the monthly award Security Health Plan gives to organizations that are making a healthy difference in their community. “This gift from Security Health Plan will help Big Brothers Big Sisters process more matches and help more children achieve success in life.”

For more than 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County has been matching caring, responsible volunteers with children ages 6-14.

“We have many children in this community waiting to be mentored, and with the continued support from members and businesses like Security Health Plan, our children will have a chance to become our next great leaders,” said Heidi Goblirsch, executive director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood County.
