MARSHFIELD – Stratford native Carmen Duran is hosting a month-long exhibition at the Chestnut Center for the Arts to raise money for the Childrens Cancer Research Society.
The exhibition, titled “Light Between Seasons-Rooted in Color,” features Duran’s vibrant watercolor and acrylic paintings, including a mix of floral still-lifes and butterfly portraits.
Duran, who attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and UW-Marshfield, began her artistic journey later in life. She started sketching and painting at age 49, starting with landscapes, florals and some portraits.
Her work often involves “en plein air” painting, where she sets up an easel outdoors to paint what she sees.
Prices for her pieces range from $65 for a watercolor on cradled board to $1,100 for a large acrylic on canvas. All proceeds from the sales will go to the Childrens Cancer Research Society.
The exhibition runs through Sept. 26. The Chestnut Center is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at 208 S. Chestnut Ave. For more information, call 715-389-8999, email contact@chestnutarts.org or go to www.chestnutarts.org.
