5Qs with: 11:11 Medical Aesthetics

After years of traveling to Wausau, registered nurse Kelli Hughes is bringing her knowledge in health and aesthetics home to Marshfield with her new business, 11:11 Medical Aesthetics at 503 S. Chestnut Ave., which opened its doors in late July. She offers a variety of aesthetic treatments, saying she’s “passionate about helping my patients feel confident in their own skin.” Here’s more about 11:11 Medical Aesthetics and what inspired Hughes (edited for length and clarity).

1. What services do you provide? 11:11 Medical Aesthetics offers many traditional services – including wrinkle relaxers, chemical peels and dermaplaning – as well as medical-grade skin care services. She also helps her clients develop customized plans for longterm care.
2. Why did you decide to start this business? I knew at some point bringing aesthetics to Marshfield was a must. With a background in healthcare and aesthetics, I saw the impact that personalized treatments can have – not just on appearance, but on self-esteem and overall well-being. I wanted to create a space where patients feel cared for, educated and empowered to invest in themselves.
3. What got you interested in pursuing this line of work? As long as I can remember, I have been interested in skin treatments. I had battled with my own skin concerns like acne in my younger years and found a passion in helping others with similar concerns. It became clear to me that aesthetics was a passion when I started working in dermatology at Marshfield Clinic. … I have been going to educational conferences, hands-on training, and cadaver courses to deepen my knowledge. The world of aesthetics is ever changing, which makes it even more exciting to learn and grow my practice.
4. What has been the most challenging aspect of a business start-up? I would say the biggest challenge I faced would be the “business” part of being an owner. I am a registered nurse (and) the business mindset did not come easy to me, but I have to give myself credit. I am very proud of how determined I was to get everything up and running so quickly. Shout out to my family and friends that helped along the way, too.
5. What else should people know about you and/or your business? I grew up in Pittsville and have lived in Marshfield for the past eight years. Growing up in a small town, I knew I really wanted to help contribute to the growth of Marshfield and give the residents and surrounding towns the same upscale options for self-care and treatments as you would see in large cities. I am very dedicated to continued education and providing my patients with compassion and growing a trusting relationship. I truly love what I get to do every single day for each of my patients.
