Letter to the Editor: McMillan chair candidate writes in
Dear editor,
My husband, Jim, and I moved to the town of McMillan in 1971. Growing up in farm country in Nebraska we were thrilled to be able to live in a country home. I worked as a registered nurse in the hospital for 25 years and Jim worked at the clinic for 42 years. After retirement, I have had the privilege of being chairman of the town of McMillan for eight years.
When I became chairman, I was interested in supporting our community by helping to preserve the wonderful place we live in. I have learned from many mentors the function of a township. I have always asked for civility and respect when speaking at our meetings. i have been accused of suppressing comments at meetings from Residents. The reason is that no board member deserves to be spoken to with foul language. Therefore comments were omitted for two meetings until civility returns. I have never had a personal agenda but look for the best solutions for the benefit of the whole community, working as a team member of our Board.
Allegations have been filed but have been dismissed by the District Attorney. I always follow the Wisconsin State Statutes with the aid of Law Enforcement and the Towns Municipal Attorney who educates the Board and Residents on the issues.
There are challenges that occur nearly every day but the Board works for the best results for our residents, neighbors and friends. Why would we do otherwise? Many things are simply beyond our control but we need to fight for what is right for the whole community to the best of our ability. Transparency is frequently questioned but I believe we are as transparent as we can be but am always open to suggestions.
Election is April 2. I would appreciate your support for re-electionhubcitytimes.com
