Marshfield police pay it forward through Shop with a Cop

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield’s Police Department helped 10 children do some Christmas shopping this year. The Department held its first “Shop with a Cop” program on Dec. 13. Police Chief Rick Gramza said 10 children each received $100 for a shopping spree at Walmart, thanks to the Marshfield Professional Police Association.
“(It is) a good community event for some kids in the community,” Gramza said. “They are hand-picked by their counselors and teachers at the Marshfield Middle School. It is our first year doing this, but it is just an opportunity to connect with kids, help them maybe buy some gifts for not only themselves, but loved ones in their life, family members, or somebody who is special to them.
“Our police association – our Marshfield Professional Police Association – works hard throughout the year to raise money to then turn around and be able to give it back to the community. We were able to help 10 kids out. We are hoping to grow it next year.”
The 10 kids were each given $50 for themselves and $50 to spend on someone special to them. They were then treated to dinner at Subway.
