March 28
Prescription drugs taken from home
A Marshfield resident reported that sometime between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on March 27, someone broke into their East 25th Street home through the back door and took four prescription medications. Detectives were called in, photos were taken, and a neighborhood canvas was completed. The investigation is ongoing.
Business is victim of fraudulent credit card transaction
A Marshfield business manager reported that a fraudulent credit card transaction was used to purchase an order from the business online. The order was shipped before the transaction was voided by the owner of the credit card.
Employee steals lottery tickets
A Marshfield convenience store staff member reported that sometime between March 20-28, an employee stole $600 in lottery tickets from the business. The employee, a 20-year-old Marshfield man, was taken into custody, booked, and released. Six counts of retail theft are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office.
March 29
Improperly functioning lamp lights lead to OWI
At 8:33 p.m., Marshfield police observed a vehicle eastbound on Blodgett Street without properly functioning lamp lights. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop. The vehicle eventually turned into a driveway and the driver ignored verbal commands to stay in the vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, officers noticed a smell of intoxicants and the driver showed signs of alcohol consumption. The driver could not perform field sobriety tests, registered .169 on a PBT, and refused a blood draw. The driver, a 57-year-old Marshfield man, was cited for OWI and warned for lamp lights.
March 31
Driver arrested on drug charges, open intoxicants
At 10:14 p.m., Marshfield police stopped a vehicle for speeding. Officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a search revealed marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and an open intoxicant. The driver was arrested, booked, and transported to the Wood County Jail on a probation hold. Charges are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office.
April 1
License plate stop results in OWI
At 12:53 a.m., Marshfield officers observed a vehicle traveling on South Central Avenue with no front license plate and a rear plate covered in snow. A traffic stop was conducted and officers noticed the smell of intoxicants coming from the vehicle. The driver, a 25-year-old Marshfield woman, showed signs of alcohol consumption and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She was arrested for operating while intoxicated – first offense.
April 2
Man arrested for burglary and battery
At 6:30 p.m., a 35-year-old Marshfield woman reported that a physical altercation was taking place in her apartment. As a result, a 19-year-old man was arrested for strangulation, battery, disorderly conduct, and burglary. Charges are being requested through the Wood County District Attorney’s office.
