December 18
Thief removes Christmas spirit from residence
A Marshfield woman reported that between Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 9 a.m., a holiday yard projector had been taken from the front lawn of her property. The woman stated that the projector may have been taken by her son’s ex-girlfriend. Officers will make contact with the ex-girlfriend.
Driver takes out mailbox
A 58-year-old Marshfield man reported that between the hours of 11 a.m. and 10:26 p.m. his mailbox on South Cedar Avenue was struck by a vehicle. The mailbox was broken off at the ground and tire marks traveled to a nearby driveway. The homeowner was questioned at that address and stated that they knew nothing of the incident.
December 19
Wanted man arrested with concealed weapon
At 2:07 p.m., Marshfield officers conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Arnold. The passenger in the vehicle was recognized to have a valid Wood County warrant. He was arrested. While searching the individual, officers located a concealed weapon for which the man did not possess a permit.
Purses robbed in employee break room
Two staff members at a Marshfield department store reported that on Dec. 18 between 10 a.m. and 4:10 p.m., cash had been removed from their purses in the employee break room. The break room was unlocked and the women had not secured their belongings in the available lockers. Video was reviewed, but did not cover the area of the incident.
December 22
Vehicle provides a special delivery
A 34-year-old Marshfield man reported that between Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. and Dec. 22 at 6:11 a.m., an unknown individual had struck his mailbox on West Cleveland Street with their vehicle and drove away. There are no suspects.
December 23
Employee caught on camera
A loss prevention employee at a Marshfield department store reported that on three separate occasions a staff member had taken cash, while checking out customers with merchandise. The three incidents are on surveillance video and provided to Marshfield officers. According to the police report, the employee was interviewed by store loss prevention and admitted to taking the money. The employee was out on bond for a Marathon County case. They will be charged with theft and felony bail jumping through Wood County Court.
Unoccupied vehicle shifts into gear
A 27-year-old Marshfield woman reported that at 2:30 p.m. she had parked her vehicle in the driveway of a rental property and left the vehicle with it still running. The woman stated that five minutes later, the unoccupied vehicle moved forward into the garage, striking the common wall between the garage and the residence. The impact caused damage to the wall and minimal damage to the vehicle. The woman said that when she found the vehicle, it was shifted into drive and the doors were all closed.
December 24
Marshfield woman harassed on Facebook
A 39-year-old Marshfield woman reported that at 11:11 a.m., she had received harassing messages on her Facebook post from a 63-year-old Pittsville woman. The Pittsville woman was contacted, along with a 41-year-old Marshfield man, and warned about their behavior, with any further harassment resulting in law enforcement action.
December 25
Marshfield man and Rudolph man get into war of words
A 50-year-old Marshfield man reported that on Dec. 24 he received two text messages from a 46-year-old Rudolph man and thought one to be an implied threat of violence. Upon further investigation, officers found that the Marshfield man had initiated the text messaging and had sworn at the Rudolph man. The Marshfield man was warned for disorderly conduct and both men were advised not to contact the other.
Dog owner warned for neglect
At 4:51 p.m., a 55-year-old Marshfield woman reported that her neighbor’s dog was left outside in minus 10 degree weather for almost six hours. Officers witnessed that the dog was shivering uncontrollably and was limping on multiple feet. The owner was contacted and warned that further incidents would result in enforcement action.
December 27
Alert library employee spots runaway
A staff member of the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library reported that she recognized a juvenile runaway from a flyer at the library. Two juvenile runaways from Wisconsin Rapids were located and taken into custody. Both individuals were returned to their guardians.
December 31
Bartender punched in the face
A bartender at a Marshfield night club reported that, sometime between 1:45 and 2:06 a.m., a 25-year-old Stratford woman slapped a man in the face and punched her, when the patron was asked to leave. When officers arrived, the parties involved did not ask for any law enforcement action, but requested that the Stratford woman be asked not to come back to the bar.
