WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A 39-year-old Marshfield man is charged with uttering a forgery as a repeat offender following a positive result to a court-ordered drug test.
According to court documents, Marshfield police were called to meet with the probation agent of Brian M. Thomas on Feb. 14. The agent explained that a random drug test scheduled for Thomas had come back positive.
Upon questioning Thomas regarding the positive result, the agent said that Thomas produced a prescription for codeine phenacetin or cheratussin, claiming that he had been prescribed the medication, which resulted in a positive reading.
After further inspection of the prescription, the agent stated that it appeared altered and thought it to be fraudulent. Thomas reportedly admitted to altering another person’s name and the date on a prescription and that he was never actually prescribed the medication.
Uttering a forgery is a class H felony that comes with up to $10,000 in fines and/or six years imprisonment. Thomas may face additional time for being a repeat offender.
