MARSHFIELD — Marshfield residents may soon see a new marketplace complex located on the 600 block of North Central Avenue. Developer Dave Asplin is proposing to build a multitenant building along the entire half block on the east side of North Central Avenue between Franklin Street and Edison Street.
The only property currently on the proposed site is the Papagalos building at 603 N. Central Ave.
While no tenants are fully committed to leasing a space in the planned facilities, the developer is designing the building with enough flexibility to accommodate a variety of retail, restaurant, and professional services.
“The developer is basically looking at demolishing (the Papagalos building) to construct a multitenant facility, which includes potentially allowing in-vehicle sales and outdoor commercial entertainment,” said Marshfield Zoning Administrator Sam Schroeder. “Those uses are broad uses basically to describe a drive-thru facility and an outdoor seating area.”
The building is planned for eight potential tenants with a planned lease on the north unit of the facilities. This unit is situated with both a drive-thru lane and outdoor seating space.
Parking will surround the building except for the east side, which has an existing alleyway. Along the existing alley, the developer is planning a 10-foot drive-up lane to accommodate a potential food service tenant.
Construction is planned to begin within the next 18 months.
