Brain Awareness Week
In honor of Brain Awareness Week March 10-16, Continuing Education is offering two brain-boosting classes taught by Dr. Jeffrey C. Amundson. Amundson, a member of the Department of Psychology at UW-Marshfield/Wood County, has done research on how the brain works and has worked with tests of concussion for athletes at all levels, including the NFL, and is developing a test for traumatic brain injuries in veterans.
Brain Awareness Week is an annual global campaign developed by The Dana Foundation to educate the public about how brain research can benefit people affected by issues such as Alzheimer’s, concussions, or others.
Amundson will highlight the brain with two classes open to the public.
Brain Basics, held March 10, will explore the amazing feats of the brain, its different parts, and their functions. The Aging Brain, held March 12, will discuss how aging can change how the brain works. The course will offer ideas on how to maintain a healthy brain.
