Tuesday, Nov. 22
Diamond rings, TV, $1,000 stolen from residence
A Marshfield man reported that an unknown person forced entry into his residence on the 1700 block of S. Maple Ave. some time between 7:20 a.m. and 9:36 a.m. and stole $1,000, two diamond rings worth a combined value of $8,800, and a 49-inch television.
A detective responded to assist in processing the scene. Investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday, Nov. 23
Marshfield police assist Wood County Sheriff’s Office
At 1:09 p.m. the Wood County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance in setting up a perimeter on the 9000 block of Falcon Road to attempt to locate a 36-year-old Marshfield man who ran into a cornfield following a pursuit. The man was unable to be located.
Man taken into custody for battery
Police took a 52-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 700 block of S. Cherry Ave. at 9:45 p.m. for two counts of domestic battery. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and later to Wood County Jail after he was unable to post the required bond. Charges will be sent to the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Thursday, Nov. 24
Assault under investigation
A Marshfield man reported being attacked on the 300 block of N. Central Ave. at 2:08 a.m. The man stated the attack happened so fast that he did not see the suspect, but the suspect did accuse the man of having an affair with the suspect’s wife.
The Marshfield man thought the suspect could be a Wausau man. When the Marshfield man checked the Wausau man’s Facebook, he noticed messages from the Wausau man that referenced the attack. The case is under investigation.
Hit-and-run observed
A witness reported observing a hit-and-run crash in a parking lot on the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. at 11:11 p.m. The striking vehicle, a black Dodge Dakota truck, reportedly hit another vehicle “nose-to-nose” and pushed the other vehicle back approximately 6 inches.
The witness watched as the driver of the truck exited the vehicle and cursed. He then got back into his vehicle and fled the area with his headlights off.
The owner of the struck vehicle is obtaining an estimate for the damage. Attempts are underway to identify three males and one female security footage show as the driver and occupants of the striking vehicle.
Friday, Nov. 25
Vehicle damaged on Central Avenue
A Marshfield woman reported at 12:15 a.m. that as she returned to her vehicle after shopping at a store on the 1700 block of N. Central Ave. she found a box of her clothing, which had been in the possession of her ex-boyfriend, on the vehicle’s roof.
The woman had not told her ex-boyfriend, a 22-year-old Marshfield man, of her whereabouts. Earlier in the day the man had sent the woman accusatory text messages.
After leaving the store the woman noticed damage to her vehicle’s driver’s side front quarter panel and door. Investigation will continue.
Drug paraphernalia located at Central Avenue residence
At 2:19 a.m. a Marshfield man stated to officers that he located multiple items of drug paraphernalia and a white powder substance while removing property from his ex-girlfriend’s residence on the 800 block of S. Central Ave.
A search warrant was drafted and signed by a Wood County judge. Police completed a search of the residence and located multiple items of drug paraphernalia and a baggie containing a white powder.
The paraphernalia and baggie will be logged into evidence. Investigation will continue.
Saturday, Nov. 26
Police receive numerous reports of identity theft
At 7 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported that someone had used her credit card number to withdraw $400 — along with a $2.75 fee — from an ATM in Madison. The woman did not give anyone consent to use her credit card information.
The woman had contacted her bank and had her card canceled. It was unknown whether the bank would reimburse her for the loss. More information was to be obtained on Nov. 28, and she was to contact police again if she was not reimbursed. No further action was taken.
Another Marshfield woman reported at 10:09 a.m. on Nov. 27 that there was a fraudulent transaction on her bank account totaling $707.50. The case will be forwarded to the detective bureau for further investigation.
At 11:04 a.m. on Nov. 27 a Marshfield man reported that there were unauthorized withdrawals totaling $807.75 through his bank accounts. The man will provide bank statements once he receives them from his bank. Investigation will continue.
Another Marshfield man reported at 11:08 p.m. on Nov. 27 that while reviewing his online banking statement he observed a $403 withdrawal from an ATM in Milwaukee, which he did not make. The man was going to contact his bank on Nov. 28.
At 8:08 a.m. on Nov. 28 a third Marshfield man reported that there were five unauthorized debit card transactions on his account statement. Two cash withdrawals totaling $506 were competed at an ATM in Woodbury, Minnesota, on Nov. 26. Someone also used the man’s debit card information to complete three withdrawals totaling $500 at an ATM in Wausau. The man’s bank refunded his money, and the case was forwarded to the detective bureau.
A third Marshfield woman reported at 8:09 a.m. on Nov. 28 that there was fraudulent activity on her debit card. On Nov. 26 there were two withdrawals totaling $506 from Woodbury, Minnesota, and on Nov. 27 there were three withdrawals totaling $500 from Wausau. The woman’s bank took possession of her debit card and refunded her money.
At 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 28 a fourth Marshfield man reported that his wife’s debit card was used without their permission in Madison on Nov. 26. Investigation is ongoing.
At 7:32 p.m. on Nov. 28 a fifth Marshfield man informed police that there were charges made to his checking account that he did not do. His bank canceled his card, and the man was to provide police a detailed banking statement at a later date.
A sixth Marshfield man reported at 9:07 p.m. on Nov. 28 that he had been contacted by his bank regarding suspicious activity on his account. The man found four unauthorized charges made in the Madison area on Nov. 26 and 27. The man had last used his ATM card on Nov. 25. Both the bank and the detective bureau are investigating.
Sunday, Nov. 27
Bleachers, fence damaged at Jack Hackman fields
Police responded at 8:38 a.m. to a report of damage to city property at the Jack Hackman baseball fields. Officers noticed that a vehicle drove into a set of bleachers at a high rate of speed and continued along the fence line, causing a considerable amount of damage.
The suspect vehicle was located outside of the city limits at 5:29 p.m. The driver, a 68-year-old Marshfield man, was transported to the Saint Joseph’s Hospital emergency room for evaluation.
A state accident report will be completed by the Marshfield Police Department as well as by the Wood County Sheriff’s Office for a separate crash. Driver condition reports will be issued by both agencies.
Chili man taken into custody
Police took an 18-year-old Chili man into custody for possession of THC and drug paraphernalia as well as operating while under the influence, first offense. He was later released to a responsible party, and charges were sent to the DA.
Monday, Nov. 28
Marshfield man uses stolen credit card
Police received a report at 9:26 a.m. that a 52-year-old Marshfield man used a stolen credit card to pay for $580.08 worth of automotive work. Officers contacted all parties involved, and further follow-up will be done.
Police investigating ATM skimming device
Bank staff reported that an ATM skimming device had been attempted to be placed on a drive-thru ATM on the 1400 block of N. Central Ave. on Nov. 18. Investigation is ongoing.
Stolen camera equipment recovered
Police received a report that $13,529.92 worth of camera equipment had been stolen from a business on the 1000 block of N. Oak Ave. Investigation revealed that a 32-year-old Marshfield woman entered the department without permission on two occasions and stole the equipment.
All camera equipment was recovered and turned over to the business. The detective bureau is completing the investigation and will request charges through the Wood County DA’s office.
Cellphone, vehicle registration certificate stolen
A Marshfield woman reported that some time between 7 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 28 someone entered her vehicle, which was parked on the 100 block of W. Cleveland St., and stole an old cellphone and her vehicle registration certificate. The woman thought the vehicle was locked but stated it was possible that it was not locked because there were no signs of forced entry.
There are no suspects.
Three men arrested for drug possession, other offenses
Following a traffic stop, police arrested two Marshfield men, a 28-year-old and a 27-year-old, for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. The 27-year-old also had a valid Marathon County warrant, and both men were out on felony and misdemeanor bond through Wood County.
Both were booked and then transported to Wood County Jail. Charges were requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
A 31-year-old Marshfield man was arrested during a traffic stop for valid warrants and for attempting to conceal controlled substances. He was booked at the Marshfield Police Department and later transported to jail. A request for charges of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
Tuesday, Nov. 29
Apple products stolen from vehicle on 18th Street
A Marshfield man reported that an iPad mini with a case and two iPod touches were stolen from his vehicle some time between Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 while the vehicle was on the 1200 block of E. 18th St. There are no suspects at this time.
North Dakota man does not pay for hotel stay
An employee at a hotel on the 100 block of E. Upham St. reported that a North Dakota man stayed at the hotel on the night of Nov. 28 and did not pay for his room. Police were unable to make contact with the suspect. Follow-up will continue.
