A walk to fight hunger
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — The 27th Marshfield Area CROP Walk Against Hunger will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, stepping off from Wildwood Park & Zoo’s Shelter No. 1.
Registration will begin at 12:30 p.m., the sendoff program is at 1:15 p.m., and the walk starts at 1:30 p.m. There are 6-, 3-, and 1-mile routes. Everyone is welcome to walk. Young people under 18 need a parent’s permission.
Church World Service, sponsor of CROP Walks nationwide, works with people to develop water supplies, more efficient ways of farming, and other ways of meeting basic needs as well as providing emergency food and assisting in refugee resettlement.
Twenty-five percent of CROP Walk funds aid local food pantries — Marshfield funds go to Soup or Socks — and 25 percent of donations from Stratford churches will go to the Stratford Pantry.
Contributions may be sent to Treasurer Carmen Lawler, M130 Ruby Lane, Marshfield, WI 54449 or be made online at the Church World Service website, cwsglobal.org. Make checks out to CWS/CROP. For more information contact Janet Wolfe, coordinator, at 715-486-9307 or [email protected].
