Monday, Sept. 12
Alleged hit-and-run offender located
A Marshfield woman reported at 5:07 a.m. that while her vehicle was parked near the intersection of 17th Street and Locust Avenue, it was struck in the rear by another vehicle, causing extensive damage. The suspect vehicle, which had major front-end damage, was later located driving north on North Central Avenue.
A formal crash report will be submitted for the damage, and the driver will be charged for hit-and-run.
Wednesday, Sept. 14
Police receive three reports of entered vehicles
A Marshfield man reported that some time between 10 p.m. on Sept. 13 and 3 a.m. on Sept 14, two unlocked vehicles that were parked in his driveway on the 1500 block of S. Chestnut Ave. were entered. The vehicles were found with the doors and glove boxes left open.
Around $20 or $30 worth of coins were stolen from one of the vehicles, and a respirator that was in a vehicle was removed but then found in a neighbor’s yard. No damage was reported.
Another Marshfield man reported that two vehicles parked in his driveway on the 100 block of W. 14th St. were gone through as well. The vehicles’ doors and glove boxes were left open, and an item that was in one of the glove boxes was found on the ground. Nothing was observed to be stolen, and there was no damage.
A third Marshfield man reported that a coin purse that contained $5 in quarters was stolen from his unlocked vehicle on the 400 block of E. 21st St. The man stated that other items were moved around, but nothing else seemed to be missing.
Woman reportedly instigates vehicle chase
At 10:47 p.m. a Marshfield woman reported being chased while riding in a vehicle with a Marshfield man. The operator of the chasing vehicle was a 24-year-old Marshfield woman with whom the man lived and had a child in common.
It was reported that the child was in the car with the 24-year-old while she disregarded stop signs, sped, and went through a red traffic control light at a high rate of speed to try to cut off the man’s vehicle.
Charges for domestic disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering safety will be requested through the Wood County district attorney’s office.
Thursday, Sept. 15
Marshfield man arrested for driving without license, drug possession, theft
Police took a 40-year-old Marshfield man into custody during a traffic stop near the intersection of Fourth Street and Spruce Avenue at 4:28 p.m. for operating without a valid license. The man was also in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a Schedule II prescription drug without a valid prescription.
Police also found a business’ bank bag in the vehicle containing some cash and an old deposit slip. While being interviewed at the Marshfield Police Department, the man admitted that he stole the bank bag and spent a large amount of the cash already on personal items for himself.
The man was booked and released.
Altercation under investigation
A 21-year-old woman and 22-year-old man were involved in a physical altercation on the 800 block of E. Harrison St. between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Both persons involved had conflicting accounts of what occurred. Investigation will continue, and a report will be forwarded to the Wood County DA for review.
Man arrested for domestic disorderly conduct
At 10:09 p.m. police arrested a 26-year-old Marshfield man for domestic disorderly conduct after he was involved in a physical altercation with a woman with whom he lives and has two children. The man was not afforded the opportunity to post bond due to a probation hold being placed on him. He was transported to Wood County Jail following booking procedures.
Thirty-year-old with Clark County warrants taken into custody
An officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 14th Street and Cherry Avenue at 10:13 p.m. During the stop, the officer made contact with a 30-year-old Marshfield man that had three Clark County warrants. The man was taken into custody and turned over to Clark County authorities.
Marshfield man jailed on probation hold
Police took a 22-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of S. Peach Ave. for a probation hold. He was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail.
Friday, Sept. 16
Man alerted to identity theft attempt
A Marshfield man reported that on Sept. 14 he received a notice of suspicious activity from a credit card company through which he did not have a credit card. The company informed the man that there had been an attempted transaction in Florida but that the card was canceled.
The man was advised to obtain a copy of the transaction history for the card and to bring a copy to the police department. He said he was not out of any money.
Woman arrested for DOC warrant
Police arrested a 21-year-old Marshfield woman at 10:15 a.m. for a valid Department of Corrections warrant. She was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then to Wood County Jail.
Marshfield man violates bond conditions
Police arrested a 62-year-old Marshfield man on the 300 block of W. Fifth St. at 5:15 p.m. for felony bail jumping after he allegedly violated bond conditions. The man was transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking and then transported and released to Wood County Jail. Charges will be sought through the Wood County DA’s office.
Saturday, Sept. 17
Woman taken into custody for domestic abuse
Police responded at 12:58 a.m. to a report of a disturbance involving a man and a woman at a residence on the 1400 block of S. Prospect Ave. Officers arrived and found the man sitting at the end of the driveway and the woman inside the residence. Both subjects were intoxicated and admitted to having a disagreement.
During the investigation police determined that the woman had gotten physical with the man. The domestic abuse criterion was met, and the woman was taken into custody. She was brought to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then transported to Wood County Jail after being unable to post bond.
Forgery case sent to detective bureau
A Marshfield man reported at 2:38 p.m. that he had received a letter from a collections agency stating that he owed $1,932.18 from an outstanding bill from a communications company. The man said he never had service through the communications company.
The man had contacted the collections agency, who gave him a billing address as well as recent purchases attached to the account. The case was forwarded to the detective bureau.
Marshfield man taken into custody following disturbance
Police responded at 11:06 a.m. to a report of a disturbance on the 300 block of W. Third St. A 27-year-old Marshfield man was taken into custody for domestic abuse, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation hold and was transported to Wood County Jail.
Mailbox, yard signs paintballed
A Marshfield man reported at 9:41 p.m. that a vehicle pulled up to his residence on the 800 block of W. 11th St., and a passenger shot a paintball gun at his mailbox and political yard signs. Police located multiple paintball rounds in his front yard and observed that his mailbox had been hit with one of the rounds, leaving yellow paint. Officers checked the area for the vehicle but were unable to locate it.
Man taken into custody for operating while revoked
An officer observed a vehicle traveling westbound on West 17th Street at 10:35 p.m. In checking the license plate information, the officer learned that the registered owner had a revoked operating status related to a recent operating while under the influence charge.
The officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver, who was out on felony bond stemming from a recent Marshfield case. The driver was taken into custody; brought to the Marshfield Police Department, where he was booked; and then transported to Wood County Jail.
Man, woman violate probation
Police took a 49-year-old woman and 56-year-old man into custody for probation holds following a traffic stop on the 400 block of N. Central Ave. at 10:01 p.m. Both subjects were found to be drinking, which was a violation of their probation rules. After holds were placed on both subjects, they were transported to Wood County Jail.
Athens man with warrants taken into custody
Police took an 18-year-old Athens man into custody for multiple Clark and Marathon County warrants. He was transported to the Marshfield Police Department, booked, and then brought to Clark County Jail.
Sunday, Sept. 18
Marshfield man taken into custody for domestic disorderly conduct
At 1:51 p.m. a woman contacted dispatch after a 25-year-old Marshfield man, with whom she currently resides and shares a child in common, caused her to fear for her own safety during a verbal argument. The woman stated she locked herself into a bedroom, and she became fearful when the man removed the doorknob and gained entry into the room, where he continued to verbally assault her.
Police took the man into custody, and he was released after posting the required bond amount. A request for charges will be sent to the Wood County DA’s office.
After investigating argument, police arrest man for Monroe County warrant
At 2:24 p.m. a woman reported a verbal argument between her; her former boyfriend, a 42-year-old from Marshfield; and a friend of the ex-boyfriend’s, a 31-year-old Marshfield man. After interviewing all parties involved, police confirmed that there was no domestic abuse.
The 42-year-old was arrested due to having a Monroe County warrant. He was booked and then released after posting bond.
Bail jumping charges requested for 25-year-old man
Police responded at 7:44 p.m. to a report that a 25-year-old man had attempted to contact a Marshfield woman, which was a violation of his bond, through a third party. Police were not able to make contact with the man. Two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping will be requested.
Monday, Sept. 19
Woman reports possible identity theft attempt
A woman came into the Marshfield Police Department to report that her computer was hacked on Sept. 17. She stated that there was a pop-up on her computer, and she received a call indicating her computer was being hacked.
The woman assisted the hackers with opening one of her online accounts before realizing it may have been a scam.
A computer company assisted the woman with removing unwanted software, and she also contacted her financial institutions to cancel her credit cards and make them aware of the incident. The woman has not lost any money at this time.
Two taken into custody for THC, drug paraphernalia possession
During two traffic stops that both took place at 3:38 p.m., police took two men into custody for possession of THC and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 19-year-old Marshfield man was stopped near the intersection of Cedar Avenue and 15th Street, and a 45-year-old Marshfield man was stopped near the intersection of Ninth Street and Vine Avenue.
Both were transported to the Marshfield Police Department for booking procedures and then later released. Requests for charges will be sent to the DA’s office.
Man cited for excessive noise due to barking dogs
Police responded at 3:52 p.m. to a report of barking dogs on the 800 block of W. Blodgett St. An officer arrived and parked on the street, out of the dogs’ sight. There was nothing abnormal in the area, and the dogs were in a kennel that was covered by a tarp.
The officer then began to mark down on a piece of paper the number of barks. He recorded 233 barks between 3:52 p.m. and 3:56 p.m. A note was left for the owner — as he was not home at the time — to call the officer.
The officer had talked and worked with the owner several times before about getting the dogs to be quieter as there were complaints of the dogs barking on April 27 and June 8.
The owner was mailed an excessive noise citation on Sept. 20.
Marshfield man with multiple warrants taken into custody
At 8:15 p.m. police took a 26-year-old Marshfield man into custody on the 300 block of W. Third St. for a Department of Corrections body only warrant, a Marathon County warrant, and a Marshfield Police Department warrant. He was booked and then transported to Wood County Jail.
Tuesday, Sept. 20
Woman issued citation for allowing dogs to run free
A 10:15 a.m. two dogs jumped their fence on the 1800 block of S. Cedar Ave. and proceeded to the 1700 block of S. Maple Ave., where they ran after a 9-week-old puppy. The dogs did not bite the puppy but did hit it and knocked it over.
An officer located the dogs on the 1800 block of S. Maple Ave. and apprehended them with the help of the puppy’s owner. The officer knew the dogs belonged to a Marshfield woman as there had been issues with them in the past.
The dogs were returned to the woman. She admitted that the dogs jumped the fence and said she was not able to get them back but was out looking for them.
Police cited the woman for dogs running at large.
Drug paraphernalia found at Peach Avenue residence
Police responded at 12:08 p.m. to a report of found drug paraphernalia at a residence on the 200 block of S. Peach Ave. The items consisted of four cut straws with white powder residue, a bottle of medication, and small plastic gem baggie.
Police photographed the items and then placed them into evidence. Investigation will continue.
Marshfield man arrested for disorderly conduct
A Marshfield woman contacted police at 5:32 p.m. in regards to her husband, a 64-year-old from Marshfield, being verbally abusive and causing her to fear for her safety. The man was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and transported to Wood County Jail after medical clearance. Charges will be requested through the Wood County DA’s office.
