MARSHFIELD — The Cinco de Mayo Nacho Ordinary Fundraiser held at Taqueria El Sol in Marshfield raised $2,000 to support the Fredric Ozanam Transitional Shelter.
The money raised came from food and beverage sales at the event. Hundreds of people came to eat, drink, and participate in the first annual Salsa Challenge. The restaurants and individuals who submitted their favorite salsa recipes included Belvedere Supper Club, M&M Catering of Neillsville, Blue Heron Brew Pub, The Kitchen Table, Di Lucas, The Vintage House, Libby McNeill’s, and Kathy Dierckx. The Salsa Challenge trophy went to The Kitchen Table by popular vote.
Owners Humberto and Anna Cano were overwhelmed with the turnout and the community’s generosity. Humberto, Anna, and sponsors McNeely Financial Services, McNeely Insurance, Forward Financial Bank, Time Federal Savings Bank, Hiller’s, Catholic Financial Life, and Festival Foods made the event a success. Plans are for the event to be held again in 2017.
