Marshfield girls basketball stays perfect with win over Wausau West

MARSHFIELD – Ema Fehrenbach, McKayla Scheuer and Maddie Nikolai combined to scored 63 of Marshfield’s 79 points in a 79-58 rout of Wausau West in the Wisconsin Valley Conference girls basketball opener on Friday night at Marshfield High School.
Fehrenbach was 9-for-12 from the field and scored a team-high 23 points for the Tigers. She also added nine rebounds. Scheuer chipped in 21 points and eight steals, and Nikolai finished with 19 points and four assists for Marshfield.
Hannah Meverden had nine points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Tigers (4-0).
Marshfield pulled away to close the first half and led 41-27 at halftime. The Warriors never threatened after that.
Freshman Maddie Schires led West (1-2) with 27 points.
Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at Mosinee.
