For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD — October is Domestic Abuse Awareness month. On average every eight days there is a death in Wisconsin related to domestic violence.
Last month Shirley’s House of Hope received 30 calls from women in need of emergency shelter and program services due to domestic violence. Over the past five years, Shirley’s House of Hope has been rebuilding, renewing, and restoring lives of over 250 women and children hurting from domestic violence.
Shirley’s House of Hope will host its Seventh Annual Marshfield Iron Chef Competition on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 5:30 p.m. at RiverEdge Country Club. Enjoy an evening of competition among area chefs, a complete meal prepared by Marshfield Iron Chef Winner Steve Tollers, and participate in the silent and live auctions.
Shirley’s House of Hope offers a nurturing environment for women and children in need of a safe place to heal. Its doors are open with the help of volunteers who average a total of 250 hours per week. Financial support is provided through compassionate donors in the community and through fundraising efforts such as the Marshfield Iron Chef Competition.
Tickets are $60 and are available online at shirleyshouseofhope.org. For more information call 715-486-9000.
