First-time Sectional Track & Field champs

SCHOFIELD — In completing an undefeated outdoor season, the Marshfield Tigers girls’ track & field team captured the WIAA Division 1 Track & Field Sectional championship May 25 at Stiehm Stadium on the D.C. Everest High School campus.
In doing so, the Tigers will now be sending 12 athletes to compete in eight events at the WIAA State Track & Field Championships June 2-3 at UW-La Crosse.
“Everyone who competed made a difference and contributed to our team championship,” said Head Coach Ali Luedtke.
Michaela Dick finished in first place in the 300-meter hurdles, while the team of Dick, Ellie Jensen, Olivia Page and Lucy Luedtke took second in the 800-meter relay. The Tigers also grabbed a second-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay, with the team of Minsaas, Dick, Jensen and Ella Allar.
Minsaas also took first in the high jump and third in the 100-meter hurdles.
Natalie Scharenbroch clinched a state berth with a third-place finish in the 3,200-meter run.
And Aubri Brown continued to shine as an anchor of this team, grabbing two sectional championships with first-place finishes in both the discus and the shot put.
Marshfield won the Sectional title with a team score of 95. Chippewa Falls came in second with a team score of 86. D. C. Everest was third with 75 and Stevens Point fourth with 69.
