Wood County authorities suspect arson at Cameron Club

MARSHFIELD – Wood County investigators say someone broke into the former Cameron Club on the outskirts of Marshfield and attempted to set a fire.
According to a Wood County Sheriff’s Department press release, Wood County Central Dispatch received a call at 7:43 p.m. on Monday, May 22 of a fire inside the structure, at the intersection of US 10 and State Hwy 80 in the Town of Cameron, Wood County.
The Cameron Club is no longer in operation, but it was clear to investigators on scene that an individual or individuals entered the building and attempted to start the building on fire. Due to the quick response by local fire departments, the fire was put out quickly with minimal damage. The property is located to the northwest of the roundabout at the intersection of US 10 and State Hwy 80.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is looking for anyone who might have seen a vehicle, individual(s), or anything suspicious around the Cameron Club between 5:00 p.m. and 7:43 p.m. on Monday, May 22.
