Why did you choose UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?
I chose UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield because it was close to home and gave me the easy transition from high school to college. Starting here was also a cost-friendly option and allowed me to have smaller class sizes and be more hands-on in my classes.
What surprised you the most about the university when you arrived on campus?
What surprised me the most about the university when I arrived was the friendliness of everyone. I was afraid to be in a new place with new people, but everyone was so nice. The professors ask about your day and how you are doing.
How or when did you discover your purpose? How did UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield faculty/staff help?
I discovered my purpose when I was choosing what college to attend. I knew I either wanted to go to UWSP at Marshfield or UWSP’s main campus, but I didn’t know the best place to start. I visited the main campus and talked to professors and students at the Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic. They helped me choose to start at UWSP-Marshfield and transfer to the main campus to finish my degree.
Why did you choose your program/major?
I chose to become a speech-language pathologist because I’ve always wanted to help people and have a job in health care. I know that the need for speech-language pathologists is increasing, and I want to be a resource for people.
Who has been your favorite professor or staff member?
My favorite staff memberis Ashley Masephol. She has been very helpful during my college experience, and I enjoy working with her in the Solution Center on campus.
In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time?
What also takes up my free time is being a student ambassador. I also have a job that I work at on the weekends.
What do you plan to do after attending UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?
I plan to transfer to the UWSP main campus to continue my major and get my degree in speech-language pathology.
To make the most of your college experience, what advice do you have for incomingstudents?
The advice that I have for incoming students to make the most of their college experience is don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone. Talk to your classmates and you’ll maybe make a new friend! I encourage you to join clubs and organizations, get involved on campus by playing sports and become a Student Ambassador like me!
